AMHERST, Mass. - Following a school and personal record tying performance, Sean Busch was named UMass Athlete of the Week on Monday morning. The senior helped the Minutemen to a solid performance at the Giegengack Invitational this past weekend in the Constitution State. The pole vault competitor can be seen and heard at the Weekly Sports Luncheon, being held in the Campus Center this Wednesday at 12:15 pm.

Bush tied his personal and the school record in the indoor pole vault on Saturday, reaching a height of 15-9. The mark was good enough for third place and to qualify for the IC4A Championships. Currently Busch ranks second in the A-10 in the event in 2011.

The Stow, Mass. native is coming off a 2010 season where he was crowned A-10 Champion in the pole vault. Busch will defend his title on Feb. 18 at the 2011 A-10 Championships.

The men's track and field team returns to action this Friday at the Valentine Invitational set to kick off at 1 pm.
