EASTON, Mass. - The Minutemen are tied for 18th in a field of 30 after day one of the New England Championship at Stonehill College in Easton, Mass. Michael Cyphers put UMass on the board first with a third place finish in the pole vault. The freshman set a height of 15-feet, 3-inches.

On the track mostly preliminary events were run in which Patrick Farnham qualified for the finals in the 100 meter dash with an eighth place time of 11.01-seconds.

In the 400 meter hurdles Patrick Morrow ran a personal best time for the second straight week, just missing the finals by crossing the finish line at 55.28-seconds.

The Minutemen will compete again tomorrow at 12 PM in the final day of the New England Championship at W.B. Mason Stadium.
