Bigelow Grabs Second In Hurdles At A-10 Championship

AMHERST, Mass. - On Sunday the Minutemen wrapped up the Atlantic 10 Championship and finished sixth as a team overall. University of Rhode Island and George Mason led the A-10 finishing in the top two spots with Rhode Island taking home the championship.
Stephen Bigelow finished second in a close race with Anthony Williams of George Mason. The co-captain out of Winchester, Mass., completed the 110 meter hurdles in 14.44-seconds. The time was just .05-seconds away from the first place finisher.
Also scoring in the 110 meter hurdles was Zack Grube who completed the event in 15.40-seconds. The time finished him fifth in the hurdles. Grube then came back in the 400 meter hurdles to finish eighth with a time of 55.27-seconds. Peter Farlow led the way in the 400 meter hurdles with a fifth place effort finishing him at the 54.39-seconds.
Pat Farnham joined Deion Arneaud, Farlow and Bigelow in the 4x100 meter relay in the fifth place time of 42.72-seconds. He later assisted in the men's 4x400 meter relay recording a 3-minute, 22.41-second mark. Farnham also ran a 11.22-second time in the 100 meter dash to place seventh overall.
After qualifying for the finals of the 400 meter dash Zack Hildenbrandt ran the sprint in 59.21-seconds.
Ben Groleau ran the fourth best time of the meet in the 1,500 meter run. The sophomore ran it in just 3-minutes, 54.09-seconds. He later ran the final leg of the 4x800 meter relay, teaming up with Stephen Ness, Michael McNaughton and Alex Finestone to finish in just 7-minutes, 43.95-seconds.
In the field Dana Pagliuca scored in the triple jump with a 43-foot, 9.75-inch mark. Fellow freshman, Brett Davies grabbed two top eight performances in the throwing events. His throw of 44-feet, 1.5-inches landed him in seventh place in the shot put. Davies then grabbed eighth in the discus with a throw distancing 130-feet.
After a two day fight in the decathlon Nick Ingham placed fourth overall with a score of 5,983 while his teammate, Bonfilio finished seventh with 5,758 points.
Next weekend the Minutemen compete at the New England Championship in Worcester, Mass., at 12:00 PM.
