WORCESTER, Mass. - Using the 1500 meter run to go out with a bang, two competitors from the UMass men's track and field team concluded action at the Holy Cross Decathlon Invitational on Thursday. Mark Hewitt raked in a fourth place finish with 5801 points, while redshirt senior Daniel Schwartz placed fifth by tallying 5774 points.

The story line of the day came in the final of ten events in Worcester, Mass. Schwartz crossed the line first in the 1500 meter run with a career-best readout of 4:23.26. Hewitt followed his teammates, in second with a personal record time of 4:30.59.

The Minutemen return to action this Friday and Saturday at the Larry Ellis Invite in Princeton, N.J. The multis will next prepare for the A-10 Championships to be held May 5 and 6 at the UMass Track and Field Complex.
