Busch Vaults to Third All-Time At UMass At Larry Ellis Invitational

Princeton, N.J. - The UMass men's track and field team competed at the Larry Ellis Invitational this weekend to no team score. The top performer for the Minutemen was sophomore Sean Busch (Gardner, Mass.) who vaulted a height of 15-05.00 for a fifth place finish and the third best mark in UMass history.
On the track, junior Sean Duncan (Gardner, Mass.) ranked sixth in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:08.13 to qualify for IC4A Championship competition. Sonny Gamble (Marlborough, Mass.) ranked 17th in that event with a time of 9:23.63. In the 5000 meter, Jonathan Pierce (Hanover, Mass.) qualified for championship competition, crossing in 14:20.24 for a ninth place finish. Kevin Johnson (Ludlow, Mass.) crossed in 14:46.03 for 20th place, with brother David finishing just behind in 14:46.48.
Junior Ryan Diorio (Bridgewater, N.J.) finished ninth in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.42. The relay squad of Arjun Collins, Jason Dwyer, Matt Gulino, and Philip Weltman ranked eighth with a time of 43.94 in the 4X100. Freshman Zach Koncki crossed the 110 meter hurdles finish line in 15.26 for a 13th place finish.
The Minutemen return to action next weekend at home for the Pre-Conference Meet.
