BOSTON, Mass. - The Minutemen battled 37 teams for a 10th place finish overall at the 2014 Indoor New England Championship in Boston Mass. on Saturday afternoon. Co-Captain Zack Hildenbrandt led the way for the Minutemen with as second place performance.

Hildenbrandt fell just .08-seconds short of the top five times in UMass history with his silver medal performance in the 500 meter dash. The senior completed the event in just 1-minute, 4.25-seconds and reigned in the first medal of his collegiate career. Hildenbrandt later returned to the track to join Pat Farnham, Zachary Blum and Hayden Frechette-McCall in the 4x400 meter relay. The quad completed the event in 3-minutes, 17.73-seconds for an eighth place finish.

Cracking the UMass record book with his time in the mile was Ben Groleau. The harrier ran the event in 4-minutes, 7.47-seconds, a time good enough for third in program history. Groleau later teamed up with Michael Maldari, Michael McNaughton and Antony Taylor for a time of 7-minutes, 43.27-seconds and a sixth place finish.

Stephen Bigelow had a busy day on the track as well recording the fastest time in the semi-finals of the 60 meter hurdles crossing the finish line in 8.07-seconds. However finishing the finals of the event in 8.07-seconds awarded him fifth place.

Also scoring for the Minutemen was Peter Farlow and Ben Thomas. Farlow placed sixth in the 60 meter dash completing the sprint in just 7.02-seconds. Thomas took 8-minutes, 28.74-seconds to finish the 3,000 meter run placing him seventh in the event.
