The New England Championships will run starting Thursday through Saturday at MIT.
This Saturday and Sunday the UMass track and field programs will host the 2012 A-10 Championships.
The Minutemen will have their final tune-up this weekend prior to the A-10 Championships.
Just two removed from the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships, the Minutemen head to Weaver Stadium this weekend.
The UMass Invitational will be the second-ever televised home meet for the UMass track and field program.
Cameron Carter enters his inaugural campaign as a volunteer assistant coach for the men's and women's track and field teams at UMass. A four-year letter winner at Colorado State University, Carter was a standout thrower for the Rams during his four-year stint.
Carter scored for the Rams at multiple competitive meets throughout his career including during the indoor season at the Colorado State-Pueblo Open, Tom Benich Track and Field Classic as a junior. Carter also was an NCAA Indoor Regional qualifier in the discus throw as a junior. In the spring outdoor season, the California native scored at the Jack Christiansen Invitational.
As a sophomore, Carter scored during both the indoor and outdoor seasons including at the Air Force Collegiate Invitational (indoor), MWC Indoor Championships, MWC Outdoor Championships, and at the Midwest Regional Championships (outdoor).
An All-State track and field athlete at Mayfair High School in Lakewood, Calif., Carter also earned varsity letters as a football player.
Carter hails from Inglewood, Calif. with brothers Michael and David, and three sisters, Yvette, Brandy and Khirin. Carter's undergraduate degree was in Health and Exercise Science from CSU, as he is currently pursuing his Masters in Kinesiology at UMass.
