Minutemen Add Seven Newcomers To 2009-10 Roster Men's swimming head coach Russ Yarworth will welcome six new freshmen and one transfer to the 2009-10 squad. The men's and women's swimming and diving teams held their annual end of the season awards banquet over the weekend where each team awarded it's top performers and men's head coach Russ Yarworth was honored for his 30 years of outstanding coaching at UMass. (more)
UMass Aquatics has announced the dates and events for their annual Alumni Weekend, which will be held May 1-3 and include the Team Banquet, the Golf Outing, the Alumni Cookout, and the Annual Auction. Men's Swimming Head Coach Russ Yarworth will also be honored during the festivities of the weekend for his dedication to the UMass swimming program over the last 30 years. (more)
In the final Mid-Major rankings of the season, CollegeSwimming.com ranked UMass' men's swimming and diving team 10th and the women's team 23rd in the nation. The men finished ninth in these ranking last season and the season before that. Finishing first in the final Mid-Major rankings was Navy for the men, and Miami (Ohio) for the women.

UMass men's diver Jason Cook placed 28th in the three-meter dive with a score of 306.80 at the NCAA Championships at the Texas A&M campus on Friday. He is the first UMass diver ever to qualify for and compete at the NCAA meet, and did so as a freshman. Cook also competed in the one-meter dive at the Championships and finished 27th in the event, scoring 284.15. Purdue's David Boudia was the top finisher in the three-meter dive as he set a new NCAA Championship record scoring 493.10.
