AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass men's swimming and diving team took part in a community outreach event last Thursday November 29, at the Amherst College Alumni House, called "Warm Up the Night!". The program put on by Family Outreach of Amherst supports families struggling with issues of poverty. Just last year the Family Outreach of Amherst helped over 350 families.

With the help of sponsors, local restaurants and donors the Alumni House had various dishes from around the world, including Italy, France, Puerto Rico and Thailand. The men's swim team helped Family Outreach of Amherst by donating their time and effort to make the event a success.

This event was open to the public with all the proceeds benefitting the Family Outreach of Amherst.

According to the Director of Family Outreach Laura Reichsman, "What made the evening very special was the support and enthusiasm of the UMass Men's Swimming Team who came en masse and helped us pull the whole event together! Everyone volunteered their time so selflessly--we have nearly recovered all of the lost funding. On behalf of the board, staff and the client families we are privileged to serve, thank you to the swim team and Coach Russ Yarworth for making this possible".
