Bromage & Cook Earn A-10 Honors Weekly Honors After Performances Against Binghamton

Nov. 10, 2008

Amherst, Mass. - After their team leading performances to help push the Minutemen past Binghamton senior captain Nate Bromage (Three Rivers, Mass.) and freshman diver Jason Cook (Amherst, Mass.) have earned Atlantic 10 Conference weekly honors. On Monday Bromage was named the A-10 Performer of the Week while Cook earned A-10 Rookie of the Week Honors. Both won the two individual events they competed in and Bromage also contributed in relay competition.

Bromage notched two individual wins for the first time this season in the meet against Binghamton. He dominated the butterfly events as he wont the 100 fly (51.57) and the 200 fly (1:56.59) while also swimming the first leg for the first-place 400 free relay team. Bromage has been a consistent point earner for the Minutemen this season as he has placed in the top-three in numerous events in each of the meets so far this season.

Cook won both of his diving against Binghamton this week earning scores of 308.55 and 310.65 in the one-meter and three-meter respectively. The freshman has been unstoppable since placing second in the one-meter dive, the first diving competition of his collegiate career, against Boston University. Since that dive Cook has only seen the top spot in every diving event of every meet which brings him to a 3-1 record in the one-meter and a 4-0 record in the three-meter.

The UMass swimming & diving teams will return to competition in two weeks when they will head to Boston for the Terrier Invitational. The meet will begin Friday and run through Sunday, this will be the first invitational the teams have competed in so far this season.
