Mike Gillmeister of the Springfield Republican stopped by Joseph Rogers Pool last week to catch up with the men's and women's swimming and diving programs and provide an outlook on the season.

The following is an excerpt from the Republican published on October 25. You can read the entire article here.

AMHERST - The University of Massachusetts men's and women's swimming and diving teams are looking at two different kinds of seasons.

Russ Yarworth coaches a men's team that routinely challenges for - and usually takes - the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship by season's end.

Entering his 34th season as coach of his alma mater's swim team, Yarworth is looking at depth across the board, with freestyle being the most promising.
