BOSTON - The Massachusetts men's swimming team finished in third place in the three-day Terrier Invitational last weekend at Boston University's Competition Pool.

UMass collected three victories and five top times in the Atlantic 10 Conference as it scored 938 points to finish behind Boston College with 1,143 and BU with 1,100.

Sophomore Joe Woodman had a strong three days of racing, taking first in the 500 (4:32.61 is fastest in the A-10) and 1650 (15:59.80) freestyle events before leading a 3-man UMass group to third, fourth and fifth in the 200 free. Troy Nichols (1:43.18) and Brian Stiles (1:43.24) each swam season-bests in the 200 free.

The 1650 free saw UMass sweep the top three spots with Alessandro Bomprezzi (16:00.63) and Kyle Vieira (16:08.96) following Woodman to the wall.

Junior Michael Glenn won the 400 individual medley in 3:59.77 and was second in the 200 breast in 1:51.40 with both times toping the A-10 charts.

Freshman Ben Sloan was the runner-up in the 200 fly as his trip of 1:51.40 moved him to the top of the A-10 leaderboard and shaved three seconds off his previous best.

UMass will be off until the first week of January when the program makes its annual training trip to Puerto Rico.
