Minutemen Make A Big Splash In Day One Of A-10s
Feb. 23, 2012 AMHERST, Mass. -
The men set an Atlantic 10 and school record in the 800-yard freestyle relay touching the wall with a time of 6:35.11. The team of Joey Sbordon, Erik Rennspiess, Troy Nichols and Chris Inglis toppled the A-10 record set by the UMass men last season at the conference championship. With this time the men qualify for the NCAA B-cuts. The 200-yard medley relay team of Colin Mulcahy, Timmy Gladyshev, Peter Sacco and John Conway finished second just behind La Salle with a time of 1:30.52. The only individual event on the day was the men's one-meter dive. Conor Dunn took third in the event with a score of 291.75. Jason Cook, who has sat out most of the season with a back injury, came in fourth with a score of 284.15. Alex Merkulov took seventh with a score of 242.75. Day two begins with prelims at 10:30 am with the finals starting up at 6:30 pm.
