AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass men's swimming and diving team was able to win 16 of 17 events in Saturday afternoon's rout of Bryant University. The Minutemen won by a score of 185-104 on senior day. The team honored it's five seniors prior to the meet, and now prepare for the Upper Valley Invitational next weekend.

Seniors Beau Garufi, Peter Sacco, Tim O'Neill, Eric Zeimetz and Alexander Merkulov all led the Minutemen to victory in their final meet from Joseph Rogers Pool.

Garufi, Sacco, O'Neill and Zeimetz, together, were able to win both the 200-yard medley relay to open the meet and the 200-yard freestyle relay to close the meet. In the 200 medley relay the team finished with a time of 1:34.50, and in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:25.34.

The seniors were able to capture seven individual first-place finishes as a group. Sacco and Merkulov each had two wins a piece. Sacco claimed victory in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle with times of 21.18 and 46.65, respectively. On the boards Merkulov was able to win both the one- and three-meter dives with scores of 287.40 and 308.55 in each.

Garufi was able to claim first in the 100-yard breaststroke finishing at 59.38. He also picked up a fourth-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 54.91, finishing behind Zeimetz who took first touching the wall with a time of 51.94. Zeimetz also was able to take second in the 200-yard freestyle finishing in 1:43.28. O'Neill finished the day with a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke at 53.20 and took third in the 200-yard breast with a time of 2:14.01.
