FANS CAN VOTE HERE
The editors of each of the six sites in the Soccer News Net network nominated up to six local players for the award, each of which will be eligible for the regional player of the year award. The nominations included athletes playing at colleges within each site's coverage area, as well as athletes from the area playing collegiately elsewhere in the country. Five additional at-large selections rounded out the nominations.
Fans from across the country will be able to vote for the top collegiate player. Voting will begin on Tuesday, November 18 and continue until December 15, and will be conducted on Big Apple Soccer (www.bigapplesoccer.com), ChicagoLand Soccer News (www.chicagolandsoccernews.com ), LA Soccer News (www.lasoccernews.com), New England Soccer News www.newenglandsoccernews.com), Philly Soccer News (www.phillysoccernews.com) and Dallas Soccer News. Online fan voting will account for 40% of the total toward the award. The remaining 60% of the vote will be cast by the editorial staffs of the six web sites.
NEW ENGLAND SOCCER NEWS
Michael Bustamante, midfielder, Boston University
Earned Rookie of the Year and Midfielder of the Year honors in the America East Conference. Had eight assists, including a league best five in A-E play.
Alejandro Bedoya, midfielder, Boston College
Named to the All-ACC First team. Had six goals and four assists for a team-leading 16 points.
Chris Browne, goalkeeper, Boston College
Named to the All-ACC first team, he had a 1.01 goals against average.
Zach Simmons, goalkeeper, UMass
Named the Goalkeeper of the Year in the Atlantic Ten, he ranks second in the A-10 in goals against average (0.83), goals allowed (16) and save percentage (.814) while leading his team to the A-10 regular season title. Last year's winner of the Soccer news Net Player of the Year Award.
Ben Arikian, midfielder, UMass
The A-10 Midfielder of the Year, he leads the Minutemen in points (14) and assists (six), while his assist total ranks third in the A-10. The sophomore from West Islip, N.Y., contributed four goals this year and scored or assisted on the game-winning goal in eight of Massachusetts' nine wins.
Andre Akpan, Harvard
Had nine goals and six assists for 24 points to lead the Ivy League in scoring.
CHICAGOLAND SOCCER NEWS
Robert Younger, defender, UIC Flames
Named the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year, anchoring a defense that allowed only 14 goals.
Baggio Husidic, forward, UIC
Named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Year, after finishing second in the conference in points (22).
Misha Rosenthal, goalkeeper, Northwestern
Rosenthal has started 17 games for the Wildcats, helping the club to a 13-2-2 record, posting 11 shutouts and allowing 8 goals for a 0.45 GAA.
Bright Dike, forward, Notre Dame
Named to the Big East first team, Dike leads the league in overall points with 27 and goals with 11, and has a conference-best 13 points in 11 league games.
Brian Visser, goalkeeper, DePaul
Named to the All-Big East second team. Played in all 20 of the Blue Demons games, posting a 0.62 goals against average.
BIG APPLE SOCCER
Mike Grella, forward, Duke University
Named ACC Offensive Player of the Year and first team all conference. He led the ACC in points.
Trevor Chiduku, forward, St. John's University
Second team All Big East selection, scored six goals this season.
Nelson Becerra, midfielder, St. John's University
Named the Big East Midfielder of the Year. He was tops on his team with 16 points, having recorded six goals, three of which were game winners, and four assists.
Neal Kitson , goalkeeper, St. John's University
A third team All Big East selection, he allowed only seven goals in 20 games, a 0.34 GAA.
Patrick Figueiredo, forward, Adelphi University
The Atlantic Soccer Conference Player of the Year for the second consecutive year, leading the Panthers with 13 goals and 27 points.
Samson Malijani ,forward, Fairleigh Dickinson University
A first team Northeast Conference selection for the second straight year, he ranks second in the NEC with 14 goals and 32 points and is tied for the league lead with six game-winners.

Corben Bone, midfielder, Wake Forest
The sophomore midfielder from Plano, Texas leads the number one team in the country. The difference maker in midfield with six goals and 17 assists.
Anthony Ampaipitakwong, midfielder, Akron
The sophomore midfielder from Carrollton, Texas is fourth on the Zips with 13 points (four goals and five assists). Started every game of 2008.
Omar Gonzalez, defender, Maryland
The junior defender from Dallas and St. Stephens' Episcopal was ACC Defender of the Year in 2007 and All-ACC First Team this season, after anchoring a backline that surrendered just 17 goals in 18 games.

Brett Mollon, goalkeeper, Temple
Had a 0.90 goals against average while posting nine shutouts.
J.T. Noone, forward, Temple
A first team Atlantic 10 selection, his 13 assists led the league. He also added 7 goals for 27 points.
Drew Healey, goalkeeper, Penn
Posted ten shutouts while allowing only 11 goals in 18 games for a 0.64 goals against average.

Brian Perk, goalkeeper, UCLA
Allowed only 18 goals in 18 games this season, a GAA of 0.96, while making a Pac-10 conference leading 71 saves. He also posted seven shutouts.
Michael Stephens, forward, UCLA
Had 23 points on seven goals and nine assists.

Steve Zakuani, forward, Akron
Named the Mid -American Conference Player of the Year. The nation's leader in points (45) and goals scored (19).
Doug DeMartin, forward, Michigan State
A unanimous selection as Big Ten Player of the Year, he had 15 goals and 33 assists, both conference highs, while leading the Spartans to the Big Ten title.
O'Brien White, forward, UConn
Named the Big East Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight year. Leads the team in points with 14 and goals with six.
Ike Opara, defender, Wake Forest
The ACC's Defensive Player of the Year.
Jeremy Hall, forward, Maryland
Led the Terps to the ACC title with 13 goals and five assists for 31 points. Named first team All-ACC.
