Josh Schwartz Named To Capital One Academic All-District Squad

AMHERST, Mass. - Massachusetts junior Josh Schwartz has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District I team, as announced by the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA).
Schwartz was one of three forwards chosen in the district, which includes nominees from all six New England states, New York, and the easternmost provinces of Canada. He will now advance onto the Division I national team ballot, with first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees announced in November.
To be eligible, students have to carry a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, be an important starter or reserve who has competed in at least 50 percent of that season's games and spent at least one calendar year at their current institution.
The Annapolis, Md. product was an All-District honoree last season and carries a 3.936 grade point average in biology/pre-med. He leads the team in points (11), goals (4), assists (3), shots on goal (9) and game-winning goals (1).
Schwartz not made below an A-minus in college with two-consecutive 4.0 semesters. He was one of ten recipients of the Nemours Summer Undergraduate Research Program and is a first author on a paper to be presented at an upcoming Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America (POSNA) conference in Toronto.
UMass is currently tied for eighth in the Atlantic 10 wit three games remaining. The Minutemen will play their final road contest of the regular-season on Sunday against St. Bonaventure at Noon. The game will be played at Bradford High School in Bradford, Pa. due to poor field conditions at SBU. Bradford HS islocated at 81 Interstate Parkway, Bradford, Pa. 16701.
