Soccer Downs Fordham 1-0 On Canepa PK
Brett Canepa's penalty kick in the 32nd minute of play proved the game-winner as the UMass men's soccer team defeated Fordham 1-0 in the Bronx on Friday night. The win was the Minutemen's second straight shutout and third victory in the last four matches.

Keys, Schwartz Power UMass To First Road Win, 3-0 At GW
Matt Keys and Josh Schwartz connected on a pair of goals before Schwartz added one of his own as UMass defeated George Washington, 3-0, at the GW Soccer Field. For the Minutemen, who improved to 5-7-2 overall and 2-3 in Atlantic 10 play, it was a season-high goal total and their first road victory in seven contests away from Amherst.

• The Massachusetts men's soccer team will play two more crucial games this weekend that may go a long way in determining the postseason fate for the Minutemen. UMass is at Fordham on Friday at 7 pm before returning home to Rudd Field to face George Washington on Sunday at 1 p.m.
• Both games will have live stats online, while live video will only be available for Sunday's game. 

About UMass 
• UMass enters the weekend with a 2-10-1 overall mark and 1-2 in Atlantic 10 play with three points. The Minutemen have won two of their last four and held leads in three of those contests.
• Junior F Josh Schwartz leads the offenseive attack with four goals and four assists for 12 points. He ranks tied for eighth in the A-10 in points, tied for tenth in goals and tied for seventh in assists.

What's At Stake With The A-10 Race
• UMass has three points in the Atlantic 10 and is tied for seventh in the standings. There are five games remaining in the regular-seasonand the top eight teams will qualify for the A-10 Championship.
• The Minutemen can make a big jump with a pair of wins, especially with this week's opponents right around them in the standings - Fordham is two points back with one, and GW is two ahead of UMass with five.

About Fordham
• Fordham is 3-8-1 and 0-2-1 with a point in A-10 action. The Rams are 1-2 on the artificial surface of Jack Coffey Field this season.
• Six different Rams have scored this season, with Jon Agostino notching a team-best two scores. GK Alex Naples has a 1.34 GAA and two shutouts as he has played all but 90 minutes in goal this year.

Series With Fordham
• UMass leads the all-time series with Fordham 11-5-1. The Minutemen have won six straight at Fordham dating back to the 2002 season. Theor last loss in the Bronx came in 1998. The teams did not play last season. Fordham did face UMass in Amherst this past Spring.

About George Washington
• GW (4-6-2, 1-0-2 A-10) is currently in fifth place in the A-10 standings with five points through three league games. After tying Dayton and Saint Louis to open conference play, the Colonials defeated Fordham, 2-0, last Sunday behind goals from sophomore Jonny Forrest and freshman Sam Summerlin. It was GW's fifth shutout of the season, tied for third-most in the A-10.
• Junior goalkeeper Luke Farrell leads the league with a 0.29 goals-against average in conference play this season, as he has allowed just one goal in 310 minutes of action, and he ranks second with a .917 save percentage. GW joins VCU as the only teams in the A-10 with two shutouts in league play.

Series With GW
• UMass leasd the closely-contested series 11-10-2. The Minutemen claimed a 3-2 win at GW last year.
