Massachusetts freshman midfielder Cody Sitton has been named New England Soccer News Men's College Player of the Week for the week ending October 20. On Monday he was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week.

The native of Largo, Fla. scored two goals -- the first two of his career -- in UMass' 3-1 win over rival Rhode Island as the Minutemen picked up their first points of the Atlantic 10 season.

Sitton leveled the match at one in the 25th minute following a URI turner and then added his second a little more than one minute into the second half off an assist from senior Josh Schwartz to give the Minutemen a 2-1 lead.

Sitton, who was also named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, is now tied for third on his team in goals scored. He is the second player from UMass to earn weekly honors, following Schwartz, who was named Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 29.
