AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman midfielder Stuart Amick (West Lafayette, Ind.) has been named an A-10 Co-Rookie of the Week after his performance this weekend helping the UMass men's soccer team to a 2-0 start in Atlantic 10 play.

Amick scored the game-winning goal in the 82nd minute on Sunday giving the Minutemen a 2-1 victory over Xavier. It was Amick's third goal of the season and his second game-winner. Amick started both games at midfield last weekend and also helped UMass defeat Dayton 3-0 on Friday.

Before arriving at UMass this fall, Amick was a four-year letterwinner for the Raiders of William Henry Harrison High School in West Lafayette, Ind. During his senior season, Amick scored 21 goals and recorded eight assists on his way to being named MVP for the 2006 season. For his career as a Raider, Amick tallied 49 goals and 18 assists.

The Minutemen are now 2-0 in conference play to start the season for the first time since 2002. UMass is also in the midst of a five-game win streak that will be tested this upcoming weekend at No. 18 Saint Louis and Charlotte.
