CINCINNATI - The Massachusetts men's soccer team saw its season come to an end on Sunday with a 5-0 setback to No. 17/15 Xavier at the XU Soccer Complex.

UMass finishes the year at 5-11-2 overall and 2-7 in Atlantic 10 play with six points.

The Minutemen scored 16 goals on the season, nearly doubling last year's nine-goal output. UMass also showed its youth through much of the year, starting an average of seven freshman or sophomores over the course of the 18 contests.

On Sunday, Xavier outshot UMass 16-6 and put nine shots on goal. The Musketeers got on the board twice in the first 4:36 before adding goals in the 22nd and 32nd miniutes. James Querre and Gino De Paoli each had two scores in the first half before leading scorer Luke Spencer notched his 13th of the year in the first minute of the second period.

UMass senior Brian Frame made four saves to finish with 85 on the season.
