Oct. 25, 2013
BRONX, N.Y. - Fordham's Andrew Hickey scored early in the second half to give the home squad all it needed in a 1-0 win over Massachusetts at Coffey Field Friday night.
UMass (2-11-1, 1-3 Atlantic 10) put four shots on goal and managed just two corner kick opportunities in the game.
Fordham (4-8-1, 1-2-1) had the advantage in shots, 11-8, and corners, 6-2.
The game winner came at 52:42 when Hickey scored on a free kick approximately six yards outside the box and shot it past Nick Ruiz in goal. It was Hickey's second goal of the season.
Ruiz stopped the only other shot attempt that made it past the UMass defenders.
UMass will return to action on Sunday when they play host to George Washington. Start time at Rudd Field is set for 1 p.m. and admission is free.
