AMHERST, Mass. - Ptah Myers (Columbus, Ohio) scored two goals and Dan Colwell (Spencer, Mass.) and Andrew Eicher (Billerica, Mass.) tallied a goal and an assist each as the Minutemen cruised to a 5-1 win over visiting Boston U. on Wednesday afternoon. The Minutemen, who have won three straight games, improve to 4-2-0 overall.

The teams played a conservative first 25 minutes, with no real scoring threats by either team, until the Minutemen broke through late in the half. Eicher tallied his first goal of the season with just 3:06 left in the first half with assists by Ralph Pace (Richmond, Va.) and Oral Bullen (Brooklyn, N.Y.). Eicher received a Pace header in the middle of the field and rocketed a 20-yard blast to the left corner for a 1-0 lead.

After BU tied the game at 1-1 on Alan McNamara's first goal of the season just six minutes after halftime, the Minutemen took control for good when Gabe Barnard (Williamsburg, Mass.) tallied his second netter of the season at 53:38. Barnard took a Colwell cross, put on a crossover and roofed a shot past BU goalie Zach Riffett.

UMass then went up 3-1 on a Colwell goal at 59:31 with an assist to Eicher. Colwell received a pass from Eicher down the left side and rolled a low shot to the far back post for his second tally of the season. Myers scored his first goal of the game as he slipped in a slow shot off a BU defender at the 65:48 mark. Myers closed out the scoring at 69:04 with a penalty kick goal that he sent to the top right corner.

UMass outshot the Terriers, 16-9, and drew five corner kicks to BU's one. Freshman Nick Billman (St. Louis, Mo.) made three saves to run his record to 2-0-0.

The Minutemen are in action next on Saturday, Sept. 20, with a 1:00 p.m. kick-off at Siena.
