AMHERST, Mass. - Hartford's Jeff Tryon scored on a feed across the box in the 71st minute to give the visiting Hawks a 1-0 win over Massachusetts at Rudd Field Wednesday.

The score was Tryon's second of the season as Javoni Simms was awarded the assist. Hartford (3-0-1) remained undefeated despite being out shot 15-12. Leading scorer David Bernhardsson took two shots to lead the Hawks, who had 10 other players attempt one shot apiece.

UMass (0-4-1), which was playing it's first home game of the season, remained winless. The Minutemen established season-high for shots (15) and shots on goal (5). Luke Pavone led the attack with four shots.

Nick Ruiz made two saves in goal and took the loss. Ryan Buckingham made his first career start and made one save in 18 minutes.

UMass will return to action on Sunday, Sept. 15, when it travels to Hanover, N.H. to face Dartmouth. Start time is set for 2:00 p.m.
