AMHERST, Mass. - UMass and Harvard played a back-and-forth match at Rudd Field Friday, eventually settling for a 1-1 draw.

UMass remained unbeaten at 2-0-1 while Harvard moves on in its season at 0-0-1.

UMass got on the scoreboard in the 18th minute to a take the first lead of the contest. Connor DeVivio started a counter attack around midfield before he sent a long through-ball to Josh Schwartz who dribbled into the box and beat Evan Mendez in goal. It was Schwartz's second goal of the season.

Harvard responded just over four minutes later when Hiroki Kobayashi found the back of the net with a blast off his left foot from about 20 yards on the right wing.

That was the way the game stood through the intermission and both overtime periods.

The Crimson took 19 shots and claimed eight corner kicks, compared to 10 and four for the Minutemen.

UMass' Brian Frame made a career-high seven saves. For Harvard, Mendez was credited with three stops.

UMass will now hit the road for a four-game stretch over the next two weeks, beginning Saturday, Sept. 8 at Adelphi at 1 p.m. Other games on the trip include Hartford, New Hampshire and Siena before returning home to face Dartmouth on Sept. 22.
