Rush Hawkins and the Minutemen have done exceptionally well in the GS this season.

Feb. 1, 2004

AMHERST, Mass. - The men's team had a tough outing as they finished 10th out of 10 teams in the Slalom, but rebounded Sunday with a second-place finish in the Giant Slalom. Freshman Rush Hawkins (Shelborne, Mass.) led the way in the Slalom as he placed third out of 52 competitors with a two-run time of 1:44.44. Junior Kevin Collins (North Reading, Mass.) also did well finishing 13th with a time of 1:53.90. In the Giant Slalom, Hawkins finished first out of 60 participants with a two-run time of 1:34.97. Senior captain David Pomeroy (Winthrop, Mass.) finished ninth with a time of 1:38.97.

Hawkins has placed in the top three in every race he has finished for the Minutemen (including four first-place showings), with a DQ in the first race of the season serving as his only blemish on the year.

Both teams return to action next weekend, February 7th, with the Boston College Winter Carnival at Ascutney Mountain (Vt.), with the slalom on Saturday and the GS on Sunday.
