    North Conway, N.H. - The men's and women's ski teams both recorded fourth place finishes at the UConn Carnival in North Conway, New Hampshire. The events were pushed up a day due to the poor weather conditions. On January 11, the men's team finished in fourth place in the Giant Slalom while the women finished in third. In the Slalom, the Minutemen finished in third while the Minutewomen finished in sixth.

    Junior Jason Small got the Minutemen off to a good start with a second place finish in the Giant Slalom, recording a total time of 2:07.88. He was followed by James Green in 13th (2:12.50), Matthew Small in 14th (1:06.58), Andrew Hawes in 17th (2:13.78), and Travis Hopkins in 35th (2:20.11).

    Jason Small finished in third on the men's side in the Slalom with a time of 1:26.19. He was followed by senior Rush Hawkins in second (1:26.82), Hawes in 12th (1:32.44), Hopkins in 13th (1:32.49), Alex Zahoruiko in 16th (1:33.10), Matthew Small in 45th (1:54.91), and Paul Lewenberg in 55th (2:14.68).

    When all was said and done, the Minutemen found themselves with a solid fourth place finish. They trail only Boston College, Plymouth State, and Colby Sawyer. They look to move up in the ECSC MacConnell Division Standings next weekend when they travel to ski in the Plymouth State Carnival.

    The UMass Women's Ski Team captured a trip to the USCSA Nationals next weekend after their fifth place finish in last weekend's ECSC Regionals. The Minutewomen placed three skiers in the top-15 during both days of the Regionals. The Men's team, the defending USCSA National Champions, will not be returning to the Nationals after their sixth place finish over the weekend. The Minutemen had a tough day in Saturday's Slalom, finishing in ninth place before recovering with a second place finish in the Giant Slalom. Andrew Hawes, Matthew Small and Travis Hopkins will participate in the NCAA EISA Eastern Regional Championships this weekend at Sugarloaf.

    The UMass Ski team competed in the ECSC Regionals this past weekend in Waterville Valley, N.H. The women's team finished fifth overall, securing a spot in the USCSA Nationals in Winter Park, Colo. from March 3-7. The Men's team finished sixth overall after a disappointing ninth place finish in the Slalom before a second place finish in Sunday's Giant Slalom. UMass Skiing will be back in action this weekend when they will participate in the EISA Regionals at Sugarloff.
    UMass Skiing Prepares For ECSC Regionals At Waterville Valley
    UMass Skiing will travel to Waterville Valley, N.H. this weekend to compete in the ECSC Regionals. The Minutemen are coming off a successful weekend at the Boston College Carnival, where they locked a spot for the USCSA Regionals. The men's team finished second in the Giant Slalom before a sixth place Slalom finish while the women placed fourth in Friday's Giant Slalom before finishing fifth in the Slalom. The Men's team finished the regular season in third place in the MacConnell standings, while the Minutewomen finished fifth.
