COMMERCE CITY, Colo. - Former University of Massachusetts men's lacrosse standout Kevin Leveille (2000-03) helped lead the United States National Team to a second place finish at the 2014 FIL World Championship. Leveille tallied 15 points on 14 goals and an assist over six appearances, including three goals when Team USA fell to Canada, 8-5 in the championship game on Saturday, July 19.
Leveille, the U.S. National Team captain, also had hat tricks against Japan (July 13), England (July 14) and Australia (July 17). The attackman from Delmar, N.Y., notched one goal in the opener vs. Canada on July 10 and another when the U.S. defeated the Iroquois Nationals (July 15). His lone assist came against the English.
The appearance with the national team marked the first of Leveille's career after he served as an alternate and travel with Team USA to the 2010 edition of the FIL World Championship. Leveille competed for UMass head coach Greg Cannella at the University of Massachusetts during the 2000-03 seasons when he earned three USILA All-America honors and compiled 159 career points via 105 goals and 54 assists.
