AMHERST, Mass. - UMass had seven players named to the NEILA All-England Team for 2005. Head coach Greg Cannella was named New England Coach of the Year for the third time while junior attacker Sean Morris (Marshfield, Mass.) was named Player of the Year. Joining Morris on the first team were: senior midfielder Chris Doyle (Putnam Valley, N.Y.), senior defenseman Matt Garcia (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.), sophomore midfielder Brian Jacovina (Hicksville, N.Y.), junior defenseman Jack Reid (Glastonbury, Conn.), senior defensive midfidler Greg Scott (Westport, Conn.) and senior attacker Jeff Zywicki (Nepean, Ontario).

Cannella was honored as the New England Coach of the Year for the third time, also earned the award in 2001 and 2002. Morris, who was a Tewaaraton Award Finalist and ECAC Offensive Player of the Year was honored by the NEILA for the first time.

Defensemen Garcia and Reid were named to the All-New England team for the third time in their careers while Doyle and Zywicki were honored for the second time this season.

It was the first selections for Jacovina and Scott.

UMass's seven honorees was the most since 2003 when they had eight. A school record of nine were selected in 2001.
