Morris' Goal Garners National Attention From ESPN; Honored By ECAC

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass All-American and Tewaaraton Trophy Candidate Sean Morris had the No. 7 Play of the Week on ESPN SportsCenter's weekly look at the best in all of sports, for the week ending on May 7. His behind-the-back, no-look cutting goal put UMass ahead 4-0 in the way to a 10-5 win over Rutgers on Saturday afternoon at Garber Field. The play was the No. 3 Play of the Day on SportsCenter on Saturday as well. He was also named the ECAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday.
Morris tallied his third hat trick of the season and 13th of his career in the 10-5 win over ECAC rival Rutgers on Senior Day Garber Field. Morris also assisted a goal for four points. All of Morris' goals came in the first half, including the show-stopper. That goal, which wrapped up a stretch of three goals in 1:24, was the No. 3 Play of the Day on Saturday night's ESPN SportsCenter. Morris moved to eighth in career points at UMass with 173 and to 13th in career goals with 91. He is currently third in the nation in points per game (4.14).
Morris is the third-leading scorer in the nation with 58 points (4.14 per game). He and the Minutemen take on No. 6 Cornell in the NCAA First Round this Saturday at 1 p.m. The game will be televised live on ESPNU.
