Tim Balise Earns ECAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Junior Tim Balise (Wilbraham, Mass.) was named the ECAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office. Balise scored a career-high six goals and had a career-best seven points in a 13-8 win at St. John's. It was the most goals in a game by a UMass player since Jeff Zywicki had six vs. Syracuse in the NCAA tournament in 2005. Balise had four goals in the first half as UMass built a 10-3 halftime lead. It is the most goals scored by an ECAC player in a game this season. Balise shares the league honors with Hobart's Daryl Veltman. So far this season, Balise leads the Minutemen with 21 goals for a team high 26 points. Balise also leads the team in shot percentage (.375) and shots on goal (36). Balise will face off against Daryl Veltman and Hobart this weekend. UMass will play host to the Statesmen on Saturday in a key ECAC match-up. UMass currently sits in third place in league standings with a 2-1 record, while Hobart is in fourth place with a 2-2 record. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. at Garber Field.
