ON VON VOIGT: A strong steady defenseman, who started much of last season ... a very focused player, who has continued to develop ... worked through some injuries late last season to come back and be a big factor in UMass' stretch run to the National Championship game ... great attitude and hard worker ... very good learner and listener who has picked up many of the nuances of the game ... can be a mean guy on the defensive side of the field when needed to be.

    • Corralled a career-high six groundballs vs. Albany (3/11).

Scooped two groundballs vs. Brown (3/17) and at Albany (3/13).

AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2006: In first season as a starter on close defense for UMass, paired with fellow sophomore Sean Krygier ... played in 14 of 18 games, starting 12 ... scooped up 15 groundballs with 10 caused turnovers ... started first 10 games and played in first 11 games ... in NCAA Semifinal win vs. Maryland (5/27), helped key defense in holding three of Terps' top four scorers without a point in win ... against Maryland had had three groundballs and a caused turnover in the game ... returned to action in Long Island homecoming at Stony Brook in NCAA Quarterfinal vs. Hofstra (5/20), played major minutes on defense ... did not play in four games due to injury from April 25-May 13 ... sat out the Fairfield (4/25) and Syracuse (4/29) games with an injury ... played great defense and had one groundball along with two caused turnovers vs. Loyola (3/25) ... opened year with four groundballs vs. Hofstra (2/26).
