ON GUYRE: A good leader who relished in the role of playing on the man-down unit... clears the ball very well as a big, strong player.

AS A FRESHMAN IN 2004... Made 10 appearances for the Minutemen last season, mainly as a man-down defender... scooped up a groundball at Syracuse (5/1)... picked up first collegiate groundball vs. Albany (3/16).


BEFORE UMASS... Sat out 2003 after transferring from Bucknell... also played football for the Bison... earned two letters in lacrosse at Roxbury High School, where he was a team captain during his final two years, playing for Steve Manitta... scored 56 points (38 g, 18 a) in his senior year and 114 points during his career... appeared in the Garden State All-Star game during his sophomore and junior years... played in the North / South All-Star game in his senior season... also earned All-Conference honors twice and All-County and All-State once... was team MVP during his senior campaign... lettered three years in football, posting 11-2 and 10-3 records in the final two seasons.

PERSONAL... Richard Charles Guyre (Guy-err)... the son of Raymond and Yonnie Guyre... born Jan. 18, 1982... was junior class vice president at Roxbury... majoring in economics.
