    ON CARETSKY: As a senior, in his second year at UMass after transferring from Maryland ... a lefty, who is competing for a spot on the first attack unit ... according to Cannella, needs to play within himself and accentuate what he does well ... shoots the ball pretty well and can carry it well ... will be needed to play off the ball and finish the ball well this year ... has a big body and can bulldog somebody, which is one of the best things he does if he has a match up that he can take advantage of ... very good in transition and sees the field pretty well and knows where the ball is supposed to go.

    2006 UPDATE as of 5/4/06:

  • Senior who is a reserve crease attacker, who has six points, playing with a knee injury.
  • Has five goals on 13 shots, 39 shooting percentage.
  • Scored on five of first eight shots of the season.
  • Scored at St. John's (4/8) for fifth goal of year.
  • Posted first career multi-point game vs. Sacred Heart (3/21) with two goals and one assist, all in second half during 9-0 run.
  • Scored behind-the-back goal vs Albany (3/14).
  • Netted first goal in first game vs. Harvard (3/11) on first shot.
  • Missed first two games due to injury.
  • Transferred to UMass after two years at Maryland.

    AS A JUNIOR IN 2005: Saw action in nine games ... tallied three points on a goal and two assists ... passed an assist at Sacred Heart (3/22)... dished out an assist against Brown (3/19)... picked up two groundballs at Albany (3/15)... scored a goal in his first game wearing Maroon and White against Yale (3/5).

    AS A SOPHOMORE IN 2004 (AT MARYLAND): In his second season at Maryland, captured the ACC Championship and played in NCAA semifinals as a Terrapin ... appreared in seven games, notching goals against Bucknell (3/17) and Penn (5/8) for the Terps.

    AS A FRESHMAN IN 2003 (AT MARYLAND): Played in one game, at Stony Brook (3/15) and had his first career assist ... also took four shots in his Long Island homecoming.

    BEFORE COLLEGE: Played three years at Northport High School on Long Island... won the state championship in 2001 and the Long Island championship in 2002... notched a school-record 117 goals and 86 assists in his career... named all-league and all-county twice... garnered All-American honors his senior campaign... invited to tryout for the United States U-19 World Team.
