Men's Track competes at IC4A Championships

ROXBURY, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts men's track and field team competed in day one of the IC4A (American Amateur Athletic Association) Championships along with 64 other teams today at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury, Mass.

Junior Kwesi Frimpong-Boateng (Accra, Ghana) competed in the 60M dash finishing with the fastest time in his heat, and third-fastest overall at 6.91 seconds. Frimpong-Boateng advances to the semi-finals of the 60M dash to be held Sunday, March 3, at 10:30 a.m. with the finals set for approximately 11:50 a.m.

In the distance medley relay, UMass placed 17 out of 33 teams with a time of 10:10.43 yet failed to qualify for the finals.

UMass also competed in the 4x400 meter relay finishing 30 overall out of 37 teams with a time of 3:24.10 a time not good enough to qualify for the finals.

In the 4x800 meter relay, the Minutemen finished 16 out of 27 teams with a time of 7:44.99, again not good enough to qualify for the finals.

The Minutemen open their outdoor track and field season Saturday, March 30, at the Sam Howell Invitational in Princeton, N.J.
