David Leaderer Signs With Trenton Devils Of The ECHL David Leaderer was one four players signed by the Trenton Devils, the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's New Jersey Devils, announced Devils General Manager Chris Lamoriello. Along with Leaderer, Trenton signed forwards Chris Poli and Tony Zancanaro, and defenseman Matt Torti. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed. (more)

An 18 game slate in the Mullins Center, the Ice Breaker Tournament featuring Boston University, Michigan State and North Dakota and another highly competitive season of Hockey East excitement highlight the 2008-09 University of Massachusetts schedule as announced by head coach Don "Toot" Cahoon. Additionally, the non-conference schedule also features tilts against Cornell, Rensselaer, St. Lawrence, and the Dartmouth Ledyard National Bank Classic featuring Bemidji State, Army and host Dartmouth.
The Chicago Wolves closed the 72nd American Hockey League season on Tuesday night with a 5-2 win against the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins for a 4-1 series win to take the 2008 Calder Cup Championship. University of Massachusetts hockey alum Matt Anderson made his 25th Calder Cup Playoff appearance and 39th overall with the Wolves. In this year's Cup Playoffs, he finished with one goal, one assist and an even rating. The Wolves jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the series before falling in Games 4 and 5. (more)

Headlined by Mike Kostka earning Distinguished Scholar accolades, 12 members of the University of Massachusetts hockey team were named to the Hockey East All-Academic Team as announced by the league office. UMass had the third highest amount of student-athletes honored just behind Maine (16) and UMass Lowell (13). To be named to the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must achieve a 3.0 grade point average in each semester of competition during the school year.
2008 Pond Club/UMass Hockey Golf Tournament Registration
The University of Massachusetts Hockey Team and the Pond Club would like to take this opportunity to invite you to our 8th Annual Pond Club Golf Tournament to raise funds for our hockey program. We are proud to announce that this year's event is again being held Monday June 9th at the Orchards Golf Club in South Hadley, site of the 2004 Women's US Open Golf Tournament. Every golfer will receive a complimentary gift for participating in this year's event. Each golfer will also receive a sleeve of UMass logo golf balls, pre-tournament breakfast, post tournament dinner, and mulligans & string - all part of this package. Prizes will be awarded to winning teams, for the longest drive (men and ladies), and closest to the pin contests on selected holes.
