Lecomte Scores Two In Mass Attack's 4-1 Win Over Niagara

  • The UMass hockey team received two goals from Michael Lecomte en route to a 4-1 win over Niagara on Friday night at the Mullins Center. Danny Hobbs and David Boehm also scored for the Minutemen (5-1-0), while Paul Dainton made 31 saves in goal. Andrew Hare made 29 saves for the Purple Eagles (0-6-1). The two teams will square off again Sunday afternoon in Niagara. Gametime is scheduled for 2 PM. MORE

    James Marcou Named Hockey East Player Of The Month

    After posting 11 points and helping the UMass hockey team to a 4-1 record, junior winger James Marcou has been named the Hockey East Player of the Month as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Marcou ranks third nationally in points and sixth in assists. UMass will host Niagara on Friday before heading to the Purple Eagles on Sunday afternoon. MORE

    The No. 17 UMass hockey team suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday night at the hands of the Providence Friars, 2-1 at the Mullins Center. Alex Beaudry made a career high 47 saves for Providence (4-2-0, 1-1-0 HEA) while Matt Irwin tallied the lone goal for the Minutemen (4-1-0, 3-1-0 HEA).     Three Goal Third Gives No. 17 UMass 5-3 Win At Providence

    The Mass Attack netted two goals just 22 seconds apart to knock off the Providence Friars 5-3 Friday night at Schneider Arena. Martin Nolet netted the game-tying goal midway through the third period before Brian Keane tallied the eventual game-winner.
