UMass Hockey Announces 2009-10 Schedule The UMass hockey team will play 15 home dates including seven of the first nine games as the 2009-10 schedule has been released on Friday. Included in the 15 home dates is a nationally televised game against Vermont which will air on ESPNU - now a part of the Comcast cable service - that will reach 46 million home audiences. (more)
Former All-American and current L.A. Kings goalie Jon Quick has been named to the U.S. Olympic Men's Ice Hockey Training Camp as announced by U.S.A. Hockey on Tuesday, June 30. Quick is one of three goalies invited to the Olympic Orientation Camp. In total, 34 players were named to the training roster. (more)
For the second-straight season, UMass posted 12 Minutemen to the Hockey East All-Academic Team as announced by the league office on Monday. Martin Nolet was named to the Academic All-Star Team which recognizes the players with the highest GPA by position. Additionally, Scott Crowder and John Wessbecker earned Distinguished Scholar honors for having been on the all-academic team for four years. (more)
Former New Jersey Devils and Albany River Rats broadcaster John Hennessy has been named the new play-by-play voice of the University of Massachusetts men's ice hockey program as announced by Clear Channel Communications of Springfield, Mass. Hennessy spent six seasons with the NHL's Devils as the play-by-play announcer, most notably calling the franchise's 2003 run to the Stanley Cup.

This Friday, May 22, UMass hockey senior Scott Crowder will be recognized as an Isenberg School of Management Senior Leader. The award recognizes graduating seniors who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to the Isenberg School and its academic departments. Crowder is a double major in sport management and marketing and has been a member of the Hockey East All-Academic Team in each of his previous seasons at UMass.
