Yevenko To Participate In Belarusian National Team Training Camp & Tournament

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass hockey junior defenseman Oleg Yevenko has been invited to participate in a training camp and international tournament for his native Belarus over the holiday break. Yevenko will travel to Switzerland where he will join the Belarusian national squad for the Arosa Challenge, hosted by the Swiss Ice Hockey Federation, Dec. 19-22.

Belarus will face Slovakia on Friday, Dec. 20, and will play either Switzerland or Norway on Saturday, Dec. 21, in the four-team tournament. Yevenko will be vying for a spot on the Belarus roster for the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, which will be played in May in his hometown of Minsk.

Yevenko has played in 84 games over his career with the Minutemen, including all 20 contests thus far this season. He is currently tied for third in Hockey East in blocked shots with 43.
