AMHERST, Mass. - UMass freshman forward K.J. Tiefenwerth has been named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, it was announced on Monday. The honor is the first from the conference office earned by a Minuteman this season and marks the first weekly award of Tiefenwerth's career.

With a goal and two assists, Tiefenwerth helped UMass to its highest scoring output of the season, a 6-3 victory at Northeastern this past Saturday. The points were the first three of his collegiate career. He has now played in 10 games on the year and is +4.

The Minutemen will be back in action this Friday, Dec. 7, beginning a two-game home series against Colgate at 7 p.m. at the Mullins Center.
