UMass Announces Winter CBS 3 Now Television Schedule

AMHERST, Mass. - For the third straight year, the University of Massachusetts Athletic Department will broadcast live hockey and men's and women's basketball games on CBS 3 Now in Western Massachusetts.

CBS 3 Now, CBS 3 Springfield's 24-hour digital subchannel, is available over-the-air on digital channel 3.6, Comcast cable channel 293 and Charter cable channel 810. When UMass sporting events are not airing, the station will continue to broadcast local weather updates. CBS 3 Springfield is the "Official Television Home of UMass Athletics," airing the "UMass Sports Insider" television show at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday mornings.

The broadcasts will be produced and directed through the UMass Athletic Department and will be simulcast through the CBS College Sports All-Access feed. UMass will be employing multiple cameras, graphics and replays for these broadcasts.

Fans can watch UMass contests three straight Friday nights beginning November 2 when hockey hosts Hockey East rival New Hampshire at 7 p.m. with Brock Hines and Adam Frenier calling the action. The women's basketball broadcast slate will tip off on Friday, November 16, as the Minutewomen take on Quinnipiac.

The games broadcast on CBS 3 Now will not conflict with UMass' existing television agreements such as the Atlantic 10 with ESPN, CBS Sports Network and NBC Sports Group and Hockey East with NESN. Currently, at least 13 UMass men's basketball games are scheduled to be broadcast nationally during 2012-13 while women's basketball (February 7 at Saint Louis on CBS Sports Network) and hockey (February 9 at Merrimack on NESN) will also make
