Paul Dainton Named Hockey East Rookie Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman goalie Paul Dainton (Fort McMurray, Alberta) has been named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week after backstopping the UMass hockey team to a 1-0-1 weekend with a tie against UMass Lowell on Friday and a win over UConn on Saturday.
For the weekend, Dainton made 49 saves, allowed five goals and played 125 total minutes between the pipes. On Friday, Dainton made allowed two goals and made 29 saves including three critical stops in overtime to preserve the tie with UML. On Saturday, he made 20 saves allowing three goals to pick up his first win of the year.
This season Dainton has started three games and is posting a 2.26 goals against average while making 92 percent of his save chances. The Minutemen are 2-1-1 overall and ranked No. 16 in the USCHO.com/CSTV.com poll and receiving votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll.
UMass is travel to Providence this Friday night before returning to Amherst to host the Friars at 7 p.m. on Saturday night at the Mullins Center.
