AMHERST, Mass. - In preparation for the upcoming 2012-13 season, which will begin at home against Connecticut on Oct. 12, the UMass hockey team will hold its Maroon & White game this Saturday, Oct. 6, at 4 p.m. in the Mullins Center Practice Rink. Admission is free to all with monetary donations accepted to benefit the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund, founded by former Minuteman Peter Trovato '05.

"Our team is proud to provide any assistance we can to the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund," said UMass head coach John Micheletto. "Peter Trovato founded this organization during his days as a student at UMass and it provides much needed educational resources to children right here in Massachusetts of fallen Servicemen and Women."

Trovato founded the Massachusetts Soldiers Legacy Fund (MSLF), a non-profit organization that offers educational assistance grants to the children of fallen soldiers from Massachusetts, in 2004 as an undergraduate. Since the fund's inception, it has garnered the support of hundreds of individual donors and numerous corporations. With its current resources, the MSLF guarantees a minimum of $40,000 in educational funding to each child of a fallen Servicemember whose "home of record" at the Department of Defense was Massachusetts.
