AMHERST, Mass. - Mac Haight, a 6-0, 190-pound goaltender from Sammamish, Wash., has been added to the UMass hockey roster for the 2013-14 season, the program announced on Friday. Haight joins Brennan Baxandall, Ben Gallacher, Marc Hetnik, Steven Iacobellis, Ray Pigozzi, Brandon Wahlin and Alex Wakaluk as the eighth member of John Micheletto's first recruiting class as head coach of the Minutemen.
"We're excited to add Mac to our goaltending trio," said Micheletto. "Mac's been around and has a lot of experience, a veteran approach to the game and, again, will make our goaltending trio one of the more competitive ones in Hockey East."
Haight spent the past two seasons with the Fresno Monsters of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and set career marks for games played (31), saves (937), wins (8) and save percentage (.889) in 2012-13, while recording a 3.93 goals-against average.
He was selected to play in the 2013 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in Troy, Mich., backstopping Team Frontier to the tournament title with a 2-1 record. Haight was in net for both Frontier wins, making a total of 61 saves over the two games and led all netminders in the event with 120 minutes played.
During the 2011-12 season, Haight logged a 7-9-4 record with a 3.44 goals-against average and a .883 save percentage. Over his NAHL career, Haight finished with 55 career regular season games played, a 3.72 goals-against average and an .887 save percentage.
