UMass Hockey Alum Shea Signs With Idaho Steelheads

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass hockey alum Colin Shea has agreed to terms with the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads, the organization announced on Thursday. Shea is the fifth member of the Minutemen's Class of 2014 to sign a professional contract.
"I am excited to be able to continue my hockey career at the professional level and I thank the Idaho Steelheads for the opportunity," said Shea. "I can't wait to get out there and get started."
Shea appeared in 130 games over his four seasons as a defenseman at UMass and totaled 46 career points on seven goals and 39 assists. The three-time Hockey East All-Academic Team member appeared in all 34 games as a junior and again as a senior. He posted a career high 16 points in his final campaign in 2013-14 and led the team with 66 blocked shots.
During the 2013-14 season, as many as 26 former Minutemen were active in professional hockey around the globe in nine different countries: Austria, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States.
