Alex Berry Featured On Toronto Maple Leafs Web Site

AMHERST, Mass. - Senior forward Alex Berry (Danvers, Mass.) was recently featured on the Toronto Maple Leafs web site during the organization's summer prospect camp. A 5th round (153rd overall) pick in the 2005 Entry Draft, Berry was one of five former and current Minutemen skaters to participate in NHL team prospect camps this summer.

Kostka signed a free agent contract with the Buffalo Sabres following the 2007-08 season and was also a member of the Rochester American's, Buffalo's AHL affiliate. Quick saw his first NHL action last season with the L.A. Kings (three games) and played in 20 games, including a Calder Cup Playoff Game, with the Manchester Monarch's of the AHL.
Other UMass alums involved in the professional ranks include Thomas Pock who is still signed with the New York Rangers and Greg Mauldin who signed with the Binghamton Senators earlier this summer.
Matt Anderson is coming off a season where he helped the Chicago Wolves win the AHL Calder Cup. Chris Capraro (Charlotte Checkers, ECHL), Marvin Degon (Hamilton Bulldogs, AHL), Kevin Jarman (Syracuse Crunch, AHL), Mark Matheson (Milwaukee Admirals, AHL), and Stephen Werner (Springfield Falcons, AHL) all saw significant action with their team's this past season. Another 2007-08 graduate, David Leaderer (Rochester, N.Y.) recently signed with the Trenton Devils of the ECHL.
The UMass hockey season will begin on Oct. 4 when the Mass Attack faces New Brunswick in an exhibition game at the Mullins Center Practice Rink.
