UMass Announces Changes To Mullins Center Layout For Hockey
Aug. 9, 2013
AMHERST, Mass. - UMass Athletics has announced that there will be alterations to the Mullins Center layout for ice hockey that will be implemented for the upcoming 2013-14 season. The modifications are being made to maximize home ice advantage for the Minutemen and to improve the game day environment for UMass fans.
The following is the list of adjustments that will be made to the UMass hockey game day setup:
As a result, UMass will benefit from a greater competitive advantage as switching the team benches allows UMass players leaving the penalty box to quickly return to the home bench. The new layout will bring the Mullins Center in line with how the vast majority of collegiate hockey rinks are set up. Also, season ticket inventory will be maximized in desirable sections, such as lower level, center ice.
"Our team benefits from playing in one of the best venues college hockey has to offer; the Mullins Center," said UMass head coach John Micheletto. "We're excited that these changes are going to push the competitive atmosphere at a UMass game to a level like no other. What was already an unbelievable energy and experience for players and fans alike, is only going to be enhanced."
Athletic department staff members are currently reaching out to season ticket holders directly affected by these changes. Detailed information on the new seating layout as well as season ticket renewal materials are being mailed to all account holders in the coming days. Current season ticket holders who are being displaced from their seats will have first priority in choosing new seat locations for the 2013-14 season and will be given options for seats with a similar vantage point of the ice as well as seats nearest to center ice which were previously unavailable. Season ticket holders not being displaced will have the opportunity to upgrade to newly available sections, if so desired, as well.
The athletic ticket office is happy to personally discuss the above changes. Anyone wishing to do so may contact the athletic ticket office at 413-545-0810 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a phone appointment.
