2010-11 Hockey Roster And Quick Facts Announced

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass hockey roster and quick facts have been announced giving fans their first glimpse at the Minutemen heading into the 2010-11 campaign. The Mass Attack returns 17 letterwinners from last season, while welcoming 13 newcomers to the program. UMass is coming off an 18-18 season in 2009-10 including a 13-14 record in Hockey East.

Rocco Carzo, Mike Lecomte and T.J. Syner are UMass top returning scoring forwards from 2009-10, while Doug Kublin and Michael Marcou and the Minutemen's top defensive skaters. Paul Dainton returns for his senior season in goal after moving into the second spot all-time at UMass for save percentage (.908) and goals against average (2.70) in his previous three seasons.
The 2010-11 roster features seven seniors, four juniors, five sophomores and 14 freshmen (including redshirt freshman Anthony Raiola). Joining Dainton, Kublin and Lecomte in the senior class are Marc Concannon, Brian Keane, Chase Langeraap, and Shawn Saunders.
UMass returns 10 forwards, 5 defensemen, and 2 goalies from last year. The incoming class is made up of 8 forwards, 4 defensemen and one goalie.
The Minutemen will look to replace several key pieces from 2009-10: All-American Justin Braun (graduation), Matt Irwin (signed with San Jose), Hobey Baker candidate James Marcou (signed with San Jose), Dan Meyers (graduation), Academic All-American Martin Nolet, Will Ortiz (graduation), Hockey Humanitarian nominee Brett Watson (graduation) and Casey Wellman (signed with Minnesota).
