Petrella Signs NLI With UMass Hockey

AMHERST, Mass. - Anthony Petrella, a 5-9, 190-pound forward out of Shattuck-St. Mary's School in Faribault, Minn., has signed a National Letter of Intent with the UMass hockey program, head coach John Micheletto announced on Wednesday. Petrella joins the Minutemen's six November signees as the seventh member of the Class of 2018.
"Anthony comes to us with a tremendous nose for the net and plays inside the dots with great strength and tenacity," said Micheletto. "We're looking forward to having Anthony be part of the program."
In two seasons at Shattuck-St. Mary's, Petrella amassed 130 points on 66 goals and 64 assists, helping the Sabres to a record of 89-16-5 over that span with a USA Hockey national championship in 2014 and a USA Hockey national semifinalist showing in 2013.
As a senior in 2013-14, Petrella led Shattuck-St. Mary's in goals (34) and was second in points (66) in 45 games. He attended both USA Hockey Select 14 and Select 15 Festivals, as well.
A native of Hilton, N.Y., Petrella is the son of Mauro and Sherry.
