UMass' Syner Tabbed Hockey East All-Star

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass senior co-captain T.J. Syner was named one of the 2012 Hockey East Honorable Mention All-Stars, it was announced on Thursday night at the Hockey East Championship banquet at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, Mass. The award marked Syner's first conference honor of his career.
Syner, who signed with the Hershey Bears of the AHL earlier this week, enjoyed his finest campaign of his college career as a senior in 2011-12 with the Minutemen. The forward led UMass in scoring with 37 points and registered a team-high 24 assists, while scoring 13 goals, all career bests.
Syner finished the year eighth in Hockey East in scoring with 1.03 points per-game, tied for 41st nationally. This past February, he was named one of 21 semifinalists for the Walter Brown Award, which is given annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England.
In four years at UMass, Syner totaled 37 goals and 60 assists for 97 points, finishing his career in the top-15 all-time in program history in all three categories.
