UMass' Syner Signs With Hershey Bears

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass hockey's T.J. Syner has signed an amateur tryout agreement with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, the team announced on Wednesday. The 5-9 forward who recently completed his senior season with the Minutemen also inked a contract with the squad for the 2012-13 campaign.
Syner served a team co-captain in 2011-12 and finished the year eighth in Hockey East in scoring with 1.03 points per-game, tied for 41st nationally. The forward led UMass in scoring with 37 points and registered a team-high 24 assists, while scoring 13 goals, all career bests. This past February, he was named one of 21 semifinalists for the Walter Brown Award, which is given annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England.
In four years at UMass, Syner totaled 37 goals and 60 assists for 97 points, finishing his career in the top-15 all-time in program history in all three categories.
