AMHERST, Mass. - UMass hockey will be participating in the Hockey East Skating Strides Against Breast Cancer program this Saturday, Feb. 15, when the squad will play host to #12 Northeastern at 7 p.m. in the Mullins Center. Those in attendance are encouraged to join the Minutemen in wearing pink to promote breast cancer awareness.
The Minutemen will don pink laces and tape on Saturday night, while over 150 pink t-shirts will be tossed to fans during intermissions. In addition, the UMass "Protect our Breasts" organization will be honored for their dedication to the cause during the first intermission and will be providing valuable information at a table on the concourse.
Entering its 8th season, the Hockey East Skating Strides program has raised nearly $230,000 for various breast cancer charities. Skating Strides has also given the student-athletes the opportunity to give back to the communities in which they study and play hockey.
