COLORADO SPRINGS, Col. - The University of Massachusetts fell, 3-0, to No. 7 Colorado College in hockey action tonight at the Colorado Springs World Arena.

Colorado College opened the scoring just 1:32 into the first period. Alex Kim scored on a shot from the slot. Colin Stuart and Mike Stuart assisted on the goal. The Tigers extended their lead to 2-0 when Joe Cullen netted a goal at the 9:11 mark of the second period. Tom Preissing and Jason Krischuk assisted on the goal.

The Tigers closed out the scoring 3:21 into the third period when Reid Goolsby scored off a face-off. Shaun Winkler was credited with the assist on the goal.

UMass senior goaltender Mike Johnson (Excelsior, Minn.) made 36 saves, while Tigers' goaltender Jeff Sanger made 13 saves for the shutout.

Massachusetts returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 20, when it plays Colorado College in the second game of the weekend series with the Tigers.
